On behalf of the members of the Junior League of Charlottesville (JLC), welcome to our website. This year, we are continuing to implement our literacy initiative. If you are interested in working with us on a literacy initiative, please contact our Community Vice President for more information.
The JLC consists of over 350 women in various stages of their League careers working together to promote voluntarism, to develop the potential of women and to improve our community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
Originally founded as “The University League” in 1932, the organization began to identify needs and make an impact within the community. In 1981, the League joined the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI). For more than 80 years, we have proudly served our community. To date, we have given over one million dollars and nearly as many hours of service to the underserved in our area. You can visit Our History to learn even more.
We are proud to partner with other non-profits in our community through our projects, Community Partners program, and grants program. Please explore our site and discover more about our history of service to the local community. If you wish to get involved, I invite you to consider becoming a member, make a donation to help us further our mission, or attend Mistletoe Market, Dogwood Deals, or Kids in the Kitchen.
Thank you for your interest in the JLC.
