Junior League of Charlottesville

Emily Couric Community Advocacy Award

What is the Emily Couric Award?

The Emily Couric Community Advocacy Award was created by the Junior League of Charlottesville in 2002 to honor the late Senator Emily Couric. She was a great friend to the Junior League of Charlottesville. She served on the League’s Community Resource Board for several years and was always receptive to our requests for advice.

Through this award, the League hopes to honor the example of advocacy that Senator Couric set from the very beginning of her career in public service: speaking up for and drawing attention to issues which concern us all. This award, and the views of the award recipient, are independent of the Junior League of Charlottesville as it is given in the spirit of Senator Couric and her work.

This award is given to a local non-profit organization in honor of an individual they nominate who exemplifies the spirit of Senator Couric’s community advocacy. The award recipient is selected by our Community Resource Board.
