Kids in the Kitchen is an Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI) initiative that aims to educate kids and parents about the rising prevalence of childhood obesity in the US.
This Junior League initiative is designed to help communities address the urgent issues surrounding childhood obesity and poor nutrition. Kids in the Kitchen not only addresses a growing problem facing today’s children, but honors the Junior League’s long heritage of impacting family nutrition for over 100 years.
The goal of Kids in the Kitchen is to empower youth to make healthy lifestyle choices and help reverse the growth of childhood obesity and the associated health issues, such as Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.
Designed as a healthy lifestyle expo, this annual event seeks to increase outreach to the local community and to further combat childhood obesity and encourage more healthy lifestyles. The program consists of about 20 interactive stations focusing on a range of health and wellness topics, such as cooking, hands-on activities, fitness demonstrations, and educational seminars.
