Community Partners

Community Partners are local non-profit agencies who have been selected as recipients of the League's volunteer hours and community support funds in a multi-year partnership, in an effort to maximize the influence of both organizations' work in the community.

Boys and Girls Club of Charlottesville/Albemarle: Learning Circles

The Boys and Girls Club's mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. JLC volunteers will be partnering with the B&G Club in their Learning Circles project, which is designed to help build self esteem in pre-adolescent girls as they approach their teenage years by providing positive role models.

Children, Youth and Family Services, Inc. (CYFS)

CYFS has been helping kids in our community for 85 years. The goal of CYFS is to provide underserved children a chance for a successful future, a chance for positive family interaction, a chance for quality early learning, and a chance for a safe place to live. JLC volunteers will be helping young children grow strong through successful parenting by facilitating the “Home Visiting Playgroup Mentoring” program. These volunteers will commit 1-2 hours a month to serve as role models to teen moms by joining an established playgroup to supervise and model appropriate play activities.
